Terms of Use

1. Operator and acceptance

These Terms govern access to and use of shiftindex.org. The website is operated by José Covas Education Academy, Lda, identified in the Legal identity section below. By using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

2. What the figures are

The figures on this website are counts of online job advertisements, collected from a third-party aggregator and matched to lists of job titles fixed before the counting. They are real observations, and they are not a census of hiring. They do not count people, hires, vacancies across the whole economy, or salaries. They capture only hiring that is advertised online, in sources our provider indexes — which varies considerably from one country to another, and is stated on each page rather than assumed. A market is published for a given kind of work only where the counts clear a stated minimum, and a market whose coverage changed for reasons of measurement rather than hiring is published without a direction. The methodology is published on this website, including the restrictions the index is counted under. We are available to demonstrate how a figure was produced. Figures may be revised between editions as methodology or coverage improves. Nothing on this website is career, recruitment, financial, investment or policy advice, and no decision should rest on it alone.

3. Information only

SHIFT provides general labour-market information and methodological commentary. It does not provide personal career, recruitment, legal, financial, investment or employment advice. The index measures changes in advertised job-demand series and does not by itself establish why a change occurred.

4. Permitted use

You may access the website for personal, journalistic, educational or internal business evaluation. You may quote limited extracts with clear attribution to SHIFT and a link to the relevant page. You may not systematically scrape, copy, extract, republish, sell, redistribute, reverse engineer or use the website to create a competing dataset or service without prior written permission.

5. Intellectual property and third-party material

The original text, methodology expression, taxonomy, selection and arrangement of information, visualisations, software, branding and other original material on the website are owned by José Covas Education Academy, Lda and are protected to the extent permitted by law. Third-party data, trade marks and materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used subject to applicable terms. No ownership is claimed over facts or third-party content merely because they are referenced on the website.

6. Availability, errors and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw the website at any time. We take reasonable care in its design but do not promise that the free website will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete or suitable for a particular purpose. We may correct errors and revise the methodology or presentation without notice. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. External links
